SAFE TOWING

Assistancekåren, Falck Räddningskår and indepndent tow truck drivers representing Storstockholms Bärgningstjänst AB have, along with a number of authorities, etablished a work group whose goal is to increase the safety and working evironment of professional tow truck drivers.

Other members of the group at present include the Swedish Road Association, the Swedish Rescue Agency, the Swedish Work Enviroment Authority, and the Swedish Police. Additions will be made to this group as certain issues come up in the future.

The background as to why this group has been etablished is thoug working enviroment of tow trucker everywhere and the increase in dangerous incidents that where reported in the past few years, including a series of very serious injuries where towing personnel were injured and in some cases even lost their lives.

The work group will look at many items on the agenda and will decide on appropriate measures to be taken, and some of these decisions will take a long time to implement since they may require changes in the law.

However, our goal is to try to get some simpler changes made on a continual basis.

Tow truckers who have experienced accidents that were never reported or who have opinions or specifie suggestions for changes now have the opportunity to bring this out the light.

In order to effectively organise this, if you have something you would like to add, contackt the people below who are responsible for compiling such reports. We would be grateful if you could do this by e-mail since this makes it easier for us to spread information within the group.

As the work continues, the group will report on what decisins and progress have been made by means of a webpage.
